Elevating an Easy Camping Meal: Sesame, Ginger Beef Stir-Fry
The reverse-seared beef mince infused with sesame and ginger makes this stir fry the ultimate easy camping meal. I’ve adapted the traditional stir-fry technique to incorporate this slow-cooked, smoked beef, which adds incredible flavour to the vegetable and noodle stir fry. The reverse-seared beef enhances the dish with rich smokiness and keeps it simple and convenient for outdoor cooking. This twist elevates the meal to a level of gourmet camp cooking – while still being easy to prepare around the campfire.
What is a Reverse-sear?
A reverse sear is usually associated with a method of cooking a steak. This method involves cooking meat over low heat and finishing the cooking process over high heat. This process of cooking meat, holds in moisture while maximising the flavour.

How to Make This Easy Camping Meal Perfect for the Family

7-steps to a Delicious Camping Meal:
The joy of camping for us is cooking a family meal over the campfire. We tested our new Camp Braai; alternatively, you can cook the meat portions on a grill or hot plate. To make this easy camping meal, follow these 7 steps to an unforgettable meal best enjoyed outdoors by the campfire!
Step 1 – An hour before cooking, start your campfire, ideally using hardwood or charcoal.
Step 2 – Generously season the beef mince with salt and pepper, half the sauce mix, and ginger, then massage it through the meat. Place small portions of the beef mince on the oiled Camp Braai. Spray the top of the meat portions with oil to avoid the top of the Camp Braai sticking to the meat.
Step 3 – Using the Camp Braai on its stand, place it on the side of the fire to smoke and slow cook for approximately 15 minutes on each side.
Step 4 – Meanwhile, prepare the noodles according to the packet directions and set aside.

Step 5 – In an oiled frying pan, stir the vegetable mix until it softens slightly. Stir in the noodles and top with the other half of the sauce mix, stirring over the heat. Once combined, turn off the heat and set aside, awaiting the beef.
Step 6 – Once the beef has slow-cooked on the side of the fire for 15 minutes on each side, finish off the cooking over the flame for 1 – 2 minutes on each side.
Step 7 – Remove the beef from the Camp Braai and place it on the noodle and vegetable mix. Garnish with sesame seeds (optional).

With this easy camping meal, you’ll have a delicious meal that will impress the whole family.
